I don't, my wife doesn't, and my daughter do not like Washington's hair. It looks he has a ponytail. Nowadays he would fit right in but 200+ years ago?

Quote: It looks he has a ponytail. Nowadays he would fit right in but 200+ years ago? They were quite common in those days... Quote: In Europe in the second half of the 18th century, most men wore their hair long and tied back with a ribbon into what we would now describe as a ponytail, although it was sometimes gathered into a silk bag rather than allowed to hang freely. At that time, it was commonly known as queue, the French word for "tail". The queue lost favor amongst civilians, but continued as the mandatory hairstyle for men in all European armies until the early 19th century. The British Army was the first to dispense with it, and by the end of the Napoleonic Wars most armies had changed their regulations to make short hair compulsory. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ponytail#Historical

Who would have thought they could get educated on this site about a ponytail. Interesting info. Thanks.

there are now so many different quarter designs, counterfeiters can pass off most anything the right size and shape as a quarter

I think the silver design look nice, the circulation clad quarters just look ugly really quickly.

Why is Anna May Wong just a head and a hand?

Quote: ...the circulation clad quarters just look ugly really quickly. Circulation coins in general. All those grubby fingers. Quote: Why is Anna May Wong just a head and a hand? I looked at the images of her that show up in Google and I understand the artist's interpretation.

I will not comment on the choice of reverses on the new quarters. Only problem I see is there was a rush to put the new image of Washington on the quarter. If they use the new design fine. Just do not rush in setting up the coin obverse by putting the letters into the hair. There is plenty of room on the bottom of the obverse to lower the head on the coin. That is all it would of taken instead of running out of room on the top. The person in charge of setting up the design on the coin die should be held responsible. The coin was not designed right. Too much rushing.

Quote: Just do not rush in setting up the coin obverse by putting the letters into the hair. Just like they did with Kennedy in '64? It was not a rush job. It is the exact same design used for the 1999 commemorative.

I hate the design.
Both sides.
This is the first time in 180+ years I am not collecting the quarters.
You have to go back to 1838 before the made the design switch to find a quarter series I am not collecting.
