@chip, can you please describe what you are seeing that looks different about this coin as I'm not sure what you are talking about with just these pics. Also, can you please add the date and mint of this dime? Thx.

. Full coin photo front and back as well as one or two close ups where and when needed. It looks like a VLDS=very late die state coin.

What Spence said.
Also add aCOMPLETE photo of each side. This can be important in determining
what is going on with your coin.
Don't forget, it is only an error if it happens during the striking of the coin,
anything that happens after that is damage.

Agree with the suggestion concerning photos. Too, the coin appears to show evidence of advanced Die Deterioration.

I'm figuring this is a pre-1998 dime. The DDD doesn't look like that on the single squeeze dies. The devices are showing the taller profile of this coin. So I feel that is is an earlier date than the single squeeze dies. Also the die wear if making the devices walk towards the rims. So it is a as already mentioned, a VLDS die with extreme die wear.

1989 dimes were the older hub process. Of it is not DDD. It is just extreme die wear. also the height of the devices were a clue to me about it being the old die creation process. Extreme die wear.

So I refer to these as VLDS (Very-Late-Die-State). It happens on all dies.even more extreme on the larger sized coins. Hope this helps answer your question. If not ask another question.
