Yes @Ronda, good eyes for noticing that. It it is called Ridge Ring and is indicative of a worn out die being used to strike this cent.

Yes on the Ridge Ring determination. If you like the coin, keep it. Unfortunately, no extra value. Could be a good hole filler until better comes along.

@ronda, of course keep it if you want as the cost of ownership is only a cent and it is a good example of Ridge Ring--however, it is only worth face value.

John I know you're picky about cropping but I really don't know how to do it I've tried and tried I just can't so I'm so sorry I'll keep trying.

It's just that all the extra background eats up server space and we do not need to see the background, only the coin.

The lines on the reverse are called rolling lines. Even on zinc planchets, they get rolled out and the line that were on the planchet don't all go away during the strike. How can I prove that? On an off center you can see the before and after strike:

Note the circled area? That is showing the pre-strike rolling lines, then look at the fields on the struck area, you can see they were weakened after strike, but still there.

Striking event, and a planchet issue and a die event. But no premium for this combo.
