This is one of the GSA coins sold by the mint as being culled out of the uncirculated category (see mint card). The holder just shows silver dollar without the uncirculated. High points on the obverse appear to have been rubbed across a hard surface. Hopefully pictures are good enough to grade from.

Wow, I'm not seeing anything that would knock it out of UNC or detail it. The obverse contact marks west of the portrait look largely superficial. The obverse looks MS-63+, and the reverse looks either MS-64+/MS-65. I think the coin makes MS-64. Nice coin.

It may be 1884-CC VAM-4.

I'm seeing it at MS64+. The obverse wear looks fairly light and only a few contact marks to the reverse or maybe some small small wear we cannot see.

The US Mint had nothing to do with the grading and distribution of these coins. The grading, advertising, sales and distribution was all handled by the General Services Administration on behalf of the Treasury Department.

I'm in at 63+ - - - - the face, and field in front of the face, is pretty hammered. The reverse is 66 lovely at a minimum.

I think the GSA amateur graders made the correct decision in categorizing this coin as they did based on their grading standards that were used over 50 years ago. They did not have the benefit of a time machine to see how things are judged in this day and age.

Very nice coin!

photos are not the best obviously but the abrasions on the obv appear to be just rub. the reverse is quite nice and good enough for a 65 grade. the obverse is 63 or 63+

I'm with fortcollins and net this easily at MS64 which is better than the majority of GSA dollars
