This 2001 D North Carolina quarter has a mirror like finish almost like it was made with a Steele planchet like the Canadian nickel or a proof like finish. I know only San Francisco mint struct proofs for this quarter in clad (I have one) and in silver. The strike is exceptional and for a circulated coin shows only several marks! The fields are clean, and the coin is bright. Washington's obverse looks three dimensional in appearance.
What do you think? Is it worth grading?
I must apologize for my photos, but my field of view is restrictive because of my setup. Hopefully you can interpret what I see in this coin! Regards.

Well to me it looks like about 3 good marks on the obv with some on the rev so most likely I would say no higher than 67 or 66. But I'm not a grader so wait to see what everyone else chimes in at.

Sorry about the typing error. The 9 should be a 0. My apologies!

I see. !!! Try to play a little bit with hard to take photos.

What I see is high grade coins with complete all design. The rims are different. OK a few marks, because are Mint marks. If the coin has almost same finish like the Canadian coins ?, probably we are in the front of one of the test coins done. The Mint polish very well the test planchet for the very few coins strike for test of the Dies design. I do not refer to Die adjustment, I say Die test design which is done in the testing room and not on the line.

Also take a photo of the rim of the coin, if it were a Canadian planchet it won't have the copper core I wouldn't think.

Ok, so I took several shots of the obverse and the reverse with my phone (android with auto focus). I am not saying this coin's planchet was Steele just that it looked like the Canadian Nickel with the Beaver on the reverse 'very glossy.' Takes a lot to do this as I have to reduce the data of the pics to put them on the website. Fortunately, I still have a copy of Picasa 3 which compresses the data per image for importing.

Of course, I had put it in a flip! Too cheap to cut it out again!

Seem to be a polish blank or planchet, like for the proof ones. I have no idea why they use the polish planchet, maybe for special uncirculated set?. For this coin I am sure you will have the DPL coin. And I stay with previous post it is full details coin, probably one of the first strikes.
