I need to find another coin to send to PCGS.
Would either of these be worth it?

How would you grade these two?

It would be better to have a separate topic for each coin.

I don't believe that either would be worth grading. The 1891 would get a details grade for cleaning, and the 1897 might be a 63 at best.

Neither of these would be worth getting graded IMO. The dates are considered relatively common and there are lots of scratches and dings. I'll let the Morgan experts chime in on what they think the grade is.

. Just wondering if either of them are a VAM and if so then would it be worth sending in?

the 91(P) I have at UNC details cleaned

the 97(P) are typically sharp strikes. this one falls in that area. there is a lot of glare from the light but it looks like the luster is subdued or missing on the cheek and jaw. you have some light marks/scratches on the cheek and neck area and the right obv field has some abrasions/rub & a few scratches. the reverse has some abrasions in the fields as as mark/nicks above the motto. I think it grades MS63 and has a retail value less than $100.

to answer your question...No these coins should be slabbed
for future reference. if you dont have a rarer coin or imo a value of at least $200 its not a good idea.

THANK YOU everyone for your opinions.

As for any VAM, the only interesting thing is the die crack on the back of the 1897 across the top of the T E D to the wing tip., But it's not on the VAM list.

I will definitely find a different coin to send in now!
