I got this coin just to fill a hole in an album, but during my search, I noticed a lot of slabbed coins labeled FBL that looked quite a bit worse than this one. Maybe I'm too hard on the ol' bell, but I was thinking the little bit of weakness near the crack and the one scratch kept this out of FBL territory. However, as I said, I'm seeing much worse getting the FBL label. Anyhow, I'm just wondering what you all think. No intention on getting this graded. Just curious.

I attribute FBL by the top 3 lines on the bell . Others by the bottom lines . From the top it doesn't quite make FBL . from the bottom one can say 99.8% yes it is .

Thanks T-Bop and John. I promise did research before posting...the problem is what I'm seeing in slabs doesn't match what I'm told are the qualifications. I just went to Heritage and pulled up the first three FBLs I could find: MS67FBL - I see weakness left of crack and scratches across bell lines MS64FBL - I see general weakness everywhere MS65FBL - I see multiple scratches across bell lines Is there something I'm just not getting? I would have seen these and though none would qualify as FBL. That's why I was wondering about the example in my post. Thanks.

If I remember right, the pros focus on the lines right at the bell crack. There are also levels of FBL,like full-medium and low.Not my area though. John1

Yours looks pretty good to me!

As you illustrate, I think the calling of FBL is pretty inconsistent, just like FS in Jefferson nickels and FB in Mercury dimes. But I think yours is as good as it gets.

From PCGS link that John posted -
"A few marks across the lines will not prevent a coin from receiving this designation, as long as the continuity of the lines is not disturbed. Multiple marks, scratches, scrapes, or other detractions that interfere with the continuity of the lines will prevent a specimen from receiving the FBL designation. Slight incompleteness of the bell lines, immediately to the left or right of the crack that traverses the bell, will not prevent a coin from receiving the FBL designation."
You keep mentioning this exact observation. Your looks good to me in this regard. Better then most actually.

Appreciate everyone taking the time to comment. Glad this is just for my own labeling on an inexpensive coin and not something more important. I'll put "probable FBL" on the spreadsheet and leave it at that. Thanks!
