Hello, I have a 2020 D American Samoa quarter. Looks like a strike-thru on the baby bats nose. I would like to hear what the more seasoned have to say. Thank You. This forum rocks.

Given the pics posted, the 'gash' across the bat's nose/snout appears to be a post-strike hit. Others will be along to comment.

I'm leaning the same way as @ijn since there appears to be metal "smushed" up on either side of this mark. That wouldn't happen with a strike through.

Ok, I have been looking this one over pretty good. I am wondering what elements are used in determing if it a strike thru or not. I feel that this coi is worth another look and and couple of more photos. I am still leaning towards it being a strike-thru because the metal inside the the void is uniform with the rest of the coin. Several dings on this one and they look like dings. Whereas the metal is pushed up on the side or scratched and scraped looking. I went through and pulled out a couple of strike thru errors that I have and they follow the same pattern. I don't know but I should would like to.
