Hi. A clarification on this one cent regarding the photos on the date, and on the left ear with obvious metal error. What do you think?

Not errors, they are both small die chips that have been worn down.

Yes those areas look like die chips to me too. We see lots them on cents from the 1950s.

There is not extra metal on a coin. There are voids on the dies that leave chips/cracks/breaks/cuds. But no extra metal. Goes in and out with the same exact weight. (unless something is struck onto the coin) If the metal is less than normal, you will see a weaker design.
