Found this Nice 1955 s Wheat with the usual suspects. Lol! The S doesn't seem to be a RPM as I can tell. Alot of die chips and die cracks on the Wheat Stalks. As I said. The usual suspects. A nice addition to my collection though.

@dmn, I agree with your assessment. Any of the die cracks on the wheat touch the rim in two places?

@Spence sorry for the late response had a family emergency. But to your Wheat Stalk question yes they are on both side running from the Stalks to the rim.

@Coop Thanks for so much sharing the info. I'm am learning and have learned so much from everyone and thanks to you all. Plus it's alot of fun! But I think this 55 is one of the best Lincoln's I've found as of yet. Even better than finding my 98 WAM. And I was pretty excited about that one! Lol!

The spots on the reverse are fingerprints eating into the surface of the coin. In time they will continue to get worse. So look for examples without the finger prints.

Also Carbon Spots can be distracting on coins:

Sometimes they can turn coins a different color:

Note the spot is on the rim?

I liked the toning, but missed the cause of the spot on the rim. There are things to look out for on coins that if you bought a coin like this, would be considered a problem later on when you go to sell them. Though I would give you the heads up. Also cleaning of a coin could lower the value to a variety coin.

Polishing of a coin can also ruin a coins' value:

On a coin that is altered, you have to make sure that see that before the purchase. Better to pass on a questionable coin, than to get it home and be struck with a coin. When you do buy these, save them to remind you not to let this happen again to you.

CoopHome: Making sure before you buy a coin. If it doubt, move on to one you don't question. Don't have buyers removes later.

If a topic has not yet been seen on the site, just make a new thread and ask it in the form of a question, then it will be covered. I always think back to images I have on a subject and use them to extend the discussion a bit more. (A spoon full at a time)
