Hello hoping for some guidance and/or opinions on markings on my coin. This is suppose to be a business strike uncirculated coin. Here are my questions: a) the mintmark - is this doubling? b) The marks on the face and neck - is this finger feed- or grease? c) the spots that look like staining on the lower neck. d) is the coin off struck the collar doesn't look even around the coin e) the bump under the O in dollar on the collar is this a considered a gouge or Cud?

Lastly - can anyone recommend a good book or website that has all the kinds of marks we see on coins?

Thank you so much for the educational lesson!

Pretty much a normal die pair. The issue on the mintmark looks like there was an issue with the strike being water/oil/grease with grit on the surface of the die. The spots are dried water spots. Note they are almost round, like we would expect to see on a drying coin. Could be pre/after the strike in circulation. But no premium for this one. The strike look pretty much on center. The mark on the lower edge of the reverse looks like a contact mark from another coin that may have damaged from contact from another coin/coins. Just damage on that area. The die state is showing a later die state. Thus you will see the typical device reduction from polishing in the past. Also the incuse devices on the reverse are also showing die wear. (The devices are raised on the die, and die polishing alters the strength and shape of the devices. (They don't wear on the coins, but the die wear because of contact/polishing of the reverse die on the raised devices on the die) As mentioned there is not premium for this coin. But the explanation sounds like an obituary. But these dies struck many more coin before they were retired. Hope this helps.

Well normally I use more images, but on your coin, they are not needed. Continue to ask questions. I always like a challenge. (I feel the same way with karaoke also. Why sing songs that most sing? I sing the ones that others want to hear, but can not deliver)
