from the close up pictures one would think this coin is tore up from the floor up. position of the mintmark and the "2" look good. no need to take pictures that close. when taking pictures, have the light come low on the horizon/across the coin and not from straight above. from the pictures, I would guess that this is DDO-002 also. excellent find if you were CRH

This is definitely a doubled die, and I agree that DDO-002 looks good. Awesome find!

I'm with Tanman. With the images given, looks like a DDO-002, in really tough condition.

It is a bad condition of the coin. So I put my self the question? Do matter if it is an DDO or not?

Quote:It is a bad condition of the coin. So I put my self the question? Do matter if it is an DDO or not? I think it does, for different reasons. For someone new to coins or varieties, it's a nice find, if for no other reason than realizing it's a doubled die. A good learning curve/tool, to know they have figured out what one should look like, especially in a bad condition. The coin may be worth little, at least in numeric terms but worth a fortune in knowledge and possible keepsake. I think others who see this, can learn also.

Besides, if you found it CRH you paid one cent for it. You'll probably put it in a 2x2 you bought in bulk so you'll likely have such a small amount of money into the coin itself why worry about whether it's financially worth it or not? It's a nice doubled die and worth saving IMO. -CH27

Guy's you do not understand me. The financial aspect you put here has nothing to do with my content. From point of view to say I was able to see and find one, is one thing. But from the point of view collection is different. Me personally I always I say to be able to see varieties or error it is a win, but made a collection is other thing.

I agree, it's not about the financial part of it. I've been learning from posts like this one and would be happy to find a DDO in any condition so I know I can identify them and that they're out there!

The coin is so beat, it would be hard to tell which one it would be. Only the mintmark location would be a clue in this condition at this point.

Nice catch on this one - with all the damage it's hard to see the doubling through the dents.
