It's fake, probably made for jewellery.

How many differences can you spot?
There are three obvious ones and some minor ones.
I'm sure the reverse would show more.

You are taking a coin for the genuine example that did not come off the same die as the date alignment and position is different. The genuine example below has the same date position and alignment and appears to be from the same die. There are some things (stars, wear) that would give me a concern that the example is fake, but I am not sure the photo is good enough and no reverse to call the OP a fake.

This is a common low grade bullion coin in a mount. If it's gold and the weight is right, it's good enough. A jeweler's copy would be lightweight and not this well done.

Way out of my comfort zone on this one, but I agree that the stars seem quite different.

None significant enought to call this one a counterfeit. I see no red flags, and would have no problem purchasing this (if I was interested). Just keep your options open if it is a good fake and you need to return it.

Unless the seller can provide better photos or good return policy, I would pass on buying the coin. The star difference would be enough to get me off the coin. Also, the nicks in the fields on the OP example looks like a coin with a harder metal than gold, but it could be the photos.

The lighting is so different between the pics that detail comparisons are difficult. Reverse pics?

I've tried posting pics of reverse, but site is asking to resize & I'm not familiar with this new Pixlr Desktop Image Optimizer . The first thing that jumped out at me was the hue of the coin. I will try and post pics of the reverse one more time, again failed. If I view in person, I will definitely pop out of the bezel & weigh.

That's the best course. I don't see this as an obvious fake, but I'm hardly a gold coin expert.

Cleaned gold does have a different hue, I have a similar $10 gold piece. The background color could affect the white balance of the camera, further affecting the color of the coin. I am not defending the coin entirely, there is still a chance it could be a good counterfeit.
