I'm new to the group. I inherited a coin collection. I found this coin and it looks like there is a mint mark D on the cheek. Or am I just seeing things..? Lol. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hard to see anything from a single close up. Can you post full photos of the obverse and reverse?

Yes, full--large and sharp images needed. At first glance, looks like a reeding hit. Better photos will help us better assess what may be happing. Thanks.

@pna, first welcome to CCF. Second, rather than an errand mintmark, that looks to me like damage from the reeded edge of another coin hitting this one and making several small gouges.

Looks like damage from either the reeds of an other coin's edge, or out right damage to the coin. Just a coin boo-boo. Happens 99% of time on incuse marks on a coin. Very common. It sever enough, they can turn the coin into a cull coin.
