Just found this while hunting today. I had never heard of these before, but a quick search on the forum reveals that there were no mint mark coins produced in 1989 that were at first thought to be a variety, but were later shown to just be grease strikes. I just wanted to confirm that this is for sure the case, since I really can't make out even a ghost of a mint mark on this one, which is pretty rare with greasers in my experience.

Evidence of a grease strike is clear in IGWT.

Good point, Frog, don't know how I missed that one! Probably because the coin was pretty toasty to begin with.

I would think a Greaser, considering the other areas around the perimeter, that are not showing or very weak.

Sorry, I was studying and was behind coinfrog's post. What he said....

I agree with you and the others @sam, but would love to see a nice close-up of just the expected mm area. Thx.

Also note the 'L' on Liberty. It is larger, so the Grease Fill factor is noticed on your coin. ( Grease Fill die fill in the tops of the devices first.

A more and more grease gets into the die, the devices get wider and wider and can disappear when the device is totally filled.

Got grease? Looks like this die can fill your needs.
