In honor of Memorial Day (here in the US) - the day set aside to honor and remember those who gave their life while serving in the armed forces - I present:

1994 Vietnam Veterans Memorial - 10th Anniversary Silver Dollar
Honoring-Memorial-Day-2022 Honoring-Memorial-Day-2022

We should always remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice!

We owe all who served a great debt of gratitude. "All gave some, some gave all." Thank you for your post.

Today my thoughts are with those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. And we must keep in mind the Gold Star families.

One of the thrills of being in a small town happened again this morning. People lined the streets to watch to the Memorial Day Parade complete with Old Glory leading the way. Flag corp, drums, marching band, verterans, local Fire Department and police, local elected officials, various antique cars and people throwing candy to the kids all along the sides of the road.

We owe everything to those who have gone before us in the name of defending this great country.

Also a special thanks to our vets who are thankfully, still with us. Make it a habit when you see a vet to offer a handshake and a heartfelt, "Thank you for your service." Its a good habit to get into. Go out of your way to do it.

Well, while it is a great thing to celebrate all Veterans on this Memorial Day, I do not. This day is a day of remembrance for the fallen, not the living. We living Vets, Active Duty, Retired, and Disabled have a day set aside for us. In November - Veterans Day.
On this day I celebrate the life and the sacrifice our fallen members of our armed forces have given everything to keep this nation free and strong.

I also look at Memorial day, as a day to honor the fallen. Yet make time to thank the families of those, who have given the ultimate sacrifice.

Australians celebrate ANZAC Day - also a National holiday.
It was a military defeat.
But those who fought are celebrated as heroes.
