My thought is that you have a coin with DDD and perhaps a little split plate doubling on the mintmark. There maybe some scattered areas of plating bubbles or perhaps pinpricks in the copper plating that have allowed the zinc core to start deteriorating.

It is slight Machine Doubling on one side of the coin, DDD on the side facing the closest rim. Just a spender. If your looking for a doubled die, don't look on the outside edges of devices. that is where MD and DDD always happen. Look at the centers of the devices for the enlarging distortion we look for.

When you don't see the spread of the devices, don't go looking for the useless doubling, move on to the next coins.

Note on the incuse devices on the EPU on the reverse Shield, they are incuse. So the MD and DDR's are just opposite of what is common to see on a doubled die. Note the DDR, these incuse devices are smaller. On the Machine Doubling they are enlarged. (Just the opposite. So know what to for before you start searching. Then you eyes will know what to look for and where to look for it. Different areas are affected than in the past.
