I will commit myself if there is a serious consensus this is rdv-005. After all, I watched the clip of the day and the guy said I could find 1 of these in my pocket change. He was definitely right. 100,000+ coins, countless hours, it was in my pocket the whole time. Good day to all. If you disagree please give an explanation based on what you see, your experience and knowledge.

Unless there is more than one die with the 006 reverse this coin is not it. The mint mark position is way off.

Besides that it looks good to me (by that I mean it definitely looks like the 006 to me and if graded may be a 65RD?) but like John said there is no way anyone here can give you a definite answer based on your pictures. Sorry

1. Yes, this is it.

2. @Willburton there are something like 7 known dies. I'm forgetting the exact number, but all are listed on Variety Vista.

3. Congrats! Very rare variety in great condition!

The locations of the of the FG helps, but there is a lot easier way to tell. It is on the AME on America:

What to look for on the FG Area:

All of the FG area that are distorted, they are VLDS examples of RDV-005. So if they are weak, then check the other option above. But I find it the better way to search for these on the AME devices on America. Save your eyes.

CoopHome: How can I tell the RDV-005 (normal die for 1988) from the RDV-006 Year variety cents for 1988?There is an easier way to tell.

Excellent find, congrats! Those are MUCH better pics and clearly shows the RDV-006. For the 88D transitional varieties, VV shows three and Wexler shows thirteen obverse dies. On VV, it comes up with die one, click the far right tab that shows die two and then again for die three.

Congrats again, I have only found one P and no D's.
