Heys Guys/Gals I haven't been on here as much lately (preping for a move after several decades and a whole lot of other problems that has turned my wonderful life upside down) I used to read every post in the "Last 100 new topics" what a great education I've learned from each of them over the last 6 or 7 years, hope to get back to it after everthing calms down and the Stanley Cup is over...any who back to my question no more rambling..............

....................Just wondering, If I buy/own a coin that's in a PCGS or NGC slab and break it out for a spot in one of my albums can I notify them to have it removed from their prop report? Example 1864 2 C FS-1101 PCGS Prop 2/2 going into my DDO 7070 album (working on several error/variety 7070s and of course a "regular" 7070) also many other upper high graded classic and modern coins.

......................Also, should I (would you?) register it/them with PCGS/NGC as the owner? Have not registered any of mine, but after last years "problem", I think it's time and since I've cataloged most of my collection......

.......................And Yes I have saved all the labels, I made custom "2x2 sleeves" and place them in all my albums in the back of each.

....................... Thanks everyone for your time, lets all have a wonderful Summer or if your below the equator a warm Winter.......and happy collecting..........

Not that I know anything about TPG , but I would think they would not do that as it would be taking away from their advertising of a slabbed coin .

If you've cracked it out of the slab, then the slab doesn't exist any more, and there's nothing left to "register". TPG registers are registers of slabs, not registers of coins. Once a coin is removed from a slab all interest that the slabbing company might have had, in tracking and monitoring their products, evaporates. Because you've got no way to prove, to the satisfaction of the slabbers or anyone else, that the coin you've got in your album is the exact same coin as the one that used to be in the slab. And even if you could prove, via photography, that it is the exact same coin, you certainly can't guarantee it's in the exact same condition.

I'm not entirely certain, but if you re-submitted a cracked-out "raw coin" along with a label from an old slab it used to live in, I'm pretty sure the old label will mean nothing; the slabbers will give it a brand new label, with a brand new ID number. They will probably also cross off the old label from their database of active slabs since, wherever the coin from the old slab went, it obviously isn't in an intact slab now.
Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis

I heard somewhere that companies give 50C for each label. If you have a bunch of such labels, I think it would be worth sending them for removal from the database.

Hey Greasy!

Sorry about your troubles!

Next!!! DO NOT MAIL THE OLD LABELS TO ANYONE!

What will happen is that a counterfeit coin will be created. Since the coin is no longer slabbed no one will be disputing that coin if it gets added to a registry set. By the time a few coins are sold, the counterfeiter is long gone.

Once a coin is cracked out of a slab any protections, authetication or grade are no longer guaranteed. Basically that coin is now considered raw. So after you unslabbed it, throw out everything. You can keep the label for your records but that coin is no longer considered slabbed, so keep them or chuck them, it no longer matters.

As far as letting the TPG know, they have no interest. They only want that coin to be resubmitted. Só slab it break it out and slab it again, the tpgs are happier!

They will update the pop report IF you return the label to them. Just telling them you cracked it out probably won't get it updated.

I tape the labels in the back of whatever album I am putting the cracked out coin into.
