Looks like a vise job to me which would make it damaged, generally though when we see vise jobs the image is mirrored but to me it looks like cents above united is properly aligned from the looks of it. My guess is PMD but we will see what some others say.

No it's mirrored. Or a hammer and 2 coins.

Yes that is a vise job—intentional damage meant to look like a mint error.

Pretty nice vise job at that - but not an error - just intentional damage in an attempt to simulate an error.

The coin doesn't appear to be flattened like it was in a vise. Unless that wouldn't happen in a vise? Wouldn't the be other marks like vise marks?

There is some flattening on the coin where the other 2 coins were press into this one. It looks a little stretched in the pictures near LIBERTY. As for the vise marks, they would be on the two coins that were on the outside of your coin when it was pressed.

Quote: As for the vise marks, they would be on the two coins that were on the outside of your coin when it was pressed. and those are the coins you will never see- they would be so damaged and have the obvious vise marks on them.

I tried it to see it work. On the first attempt, I simply placed 3 copper cents in a vise and tightened it down then released it. I didn't see much of the effect you see on your coin. On my second attempt, I took 3 copper cents and in the vise they went, I tightened it down and left it for a day, next day, tighter still - I did that for 5 days. Once I got them out the center coin had the indents from the other 2.
