1994 US Penny, True Double Die? - Coin Community Forum

Brumby New Member United States 10 Posts	Posted 06/11/2022 4:08 pm Hi All, This penny is off-center and appears to be a double die or double strike of some kind. The "D" and the bottom right of Abraham's image show a definite separate strike. Most of the lettering has something going on, especially the second "T" in TRUST. I don't see anything unusual on the reverse. Thanks in advance for feedback! Report this Post to the Staff

Spence Moderator United States 34444 Posts	Posted 06/11/2022 4:28 pm @bru, as noted by @dear, the grey colored doubling on the last T of TRUST and the mintmark is from the copper plating being too thin to adequately cover the zinc core. You are correct that the obv was struck with a slightly misaligned die.
