My first reaction is circulation flattening or a blunt force 'mush' hit. Suggest posting full, large and sharp images of the obverse and reverse--and perhaps another shot of IN taken from a different perspective. Thanks.

@rose, first welcome to CCF. Second, I agree that the word IN has taken a hit which has flattened the bottom of the letters in a stepwise fashion. This didn't happen during the striking of this coin.

with Frog on this one - circulation hits/device flattening. and please as Frog stated, coins up right will ease the pain I feel when I turn my head over to look at them.
