Hi Jim, Unfortunately there is nothing special. It is called Post Mint Damage ( PMD). People like to vandalise coins in all manner of ways. It is obvious that this specimens has had damage applied to both sides. The types of PMD are infinite and most damaged coins only have face value. BTW

It dose look like it has 2 kangaroos heads and the marks are deep and clean . I did find.one article of an American coin showing a similar mark and the article seemed to think it was an error . But I'm only new at this . Jim

I would love to see a crisper shot of the obverse. To my eye there is strange stuff happening where the nose and chin and neck interact with the introduced shape(s) coming in from the right. It is hard to tell if the shapes are flat, incused or relief. A more focused snap might help. The large dings in the rim by the IA and the 8 certainly give credence to PMD being the most likely cause. A late edit. Now that I can see the "topography" of the coin, the only doubt I have, which would question PMD, is the nose still visible under the diamond shape. I would have imagined that would have been obliterated. Again, a more focused picture would help. That's my two-bobs worth.
