This 2022 Rossevelt Dime has multiple die chips on rossevelts head/eye brow. Looks like a spike head. IGWT,the date, Liberty and earlobe are doubled but have slight cracks running through/around them. There is nothing to run this coin up against to date other than the chips in rossevelts hair. It doesn't appear to be Machine Doubling or DDD. Let me know what you all think. Thanks

@John1, ok. Do you have any other insight to offer? It doesn't seem to line up with a die clash.

The marking on the cheek look more like circulation hits. The stuff in the head and hair could be a crack. MD on the devices though.

@Dearborn, yeah,I should have cropped the cheek area out as it looked like it was circulation damage. It does appear the chips in the hair do connect but it is tough to pull a good image in the hair with it being a slight crack. Thanks.

When all the doubling is towards the rim, it's a good sign that it's Die Deterioration.

MD or maybe die abrasion? Not a die clash.

@scstrawn thanks, I will keep that in mind moving forward. Thanks for that information.
@John1, yeah. I wasn't sure. There isn't much to compare it to yet being it is a 2022. Thanks for responding back.

Well it is a 2022 dime with die chips. Pretty much what has been reported with this dime to date.
Thanks again

That crack to attach to his head seems soooo tiny! And why do you say it doesn't appear be Machine Doubling because I think it clearly is? Chips are so tiny they don't, I feel, add any value .

@merclover, I always thought MD normally was present on either the outer or inner device. I wasn't aware MD appears on the inside of a device then ran through the device to the outside like it appears on the date and GOD on this date. There is a crack that attaches the chips on rossevelts head. I learned something. Thanks. I'm not really concerned with additional value being added.

What you are seeing is DDD. Note the direction that you see it? It is towards the closest rim direction from all the affected areas. The fields are nice and flat and some distortion on the devices. So I feel this was the second polishing of this die. Note how the devices appear slightly smaller than normal. Also the die chips/cracks, I feel are from a die clash event. The die is now approaching the LDS die state. when more coins are struck, the die flow lines will start appearing again, and the DDD affect on the devices will grow worse as the die ages more. So this die still has a lot more coins to strike yet. Just a normal die. If it were a doubled die, the areas you are looking at is not the areas where the DDR would be in. You might study the sites to see where the DDR's are found. The DDO's, will be real rare if any more are found. So check to see where the DDR's are found. Study all the listings despite the year/mint for the post 1999 dimes. That will show the areas where the DDR's will be found.

The post 1999 DDR's are the ones with the DDR on the reverse single squeeze dies.
The sooner you realize where to look for these DDR's the sooner you will start to find them. (They are not on the outer devices)
