Oh my! What a beautiful coin!

I see this as at least VF-30, and choice for that grade. Retail book value here for VF-30 is around $5,500, but this coin has strong eye appeal for the grade. IMHO, this is closer to the $6,000 range, which is roughly the VF-35 retail value.

The only concern I would have with this coin is the black spot on the obverse next to the 12th star. This coin may be a candidate for professional conservation by the grading company. They do this as an extra charge, and it could be worthwhile on this coin. If conservation is to be attempted, it absolutely should be done professionally on this coin. It might be worthwhile seeing what others think about conservation. There may be differing opinions on this.

Again, very beautiful coin!

You inherited a very special collection. I hope you keep them safe and pass them down for generations to come to enjoy. My grand parents left me with some pocket change, which I treasure because it has their fingerprints on it. I couldn't image something this epic!

Reaching out to PCGS/NGC regarding professional encapsulation for protection and grading is well justified for these.

If you need to sell them, this collection qualifies for the attention and services of the top auction houses like Stack' Bowers, Heritage, Legend Numismatics etc. The odds that your local coin shop or the average coin show table is a better advocate for you to maximize money to you is not great on something unusually awesome as this.
