@star, I'm not qualified to offer an opinion as to grade, originality, or value, but I did want to thank you posting all of these wonderful coins. It is only rarely that we see such an amazing group of coins like this. Regardless of whether you slab and keep or sell them, this has been great fun to view them all on these threads.

I echo Spence's sentiment and wish that we had had the opportunity to meet you grandpa. Seems like he was cool coin guy with impeccable taste.

If you decide to sell and get an offer from someone for the coins, stop by here and post what you were offered. We will let you know our thoughts on whether you are getting ripped off and maybe I can offer you more. I do collect these types of coins. Best of luck.

The Creme de la Creme. I could see it grading XF40 in today's market. Technically a VF+.

A gorgeous coin. I advise you to send it for evaluation to TPG to achieve the maximum selling price.
I envy you. I can't afford coins of this type.

another knock-out coin.

minimum VF30. I think its closer to VF35 but I would go conservative on this one.

you have what is called the 10X6 stars variety. 10 stars on the left and 6 on this right. there is no price difference . it had an original mintage of about 7700

personally I would value it at $6500 for shipping insurance

Nice VF-30. I can tell this was part of an old collection. It would be very hard to find so many nice original coins like this now without spending a lot of time and money.

These coins are all nearly perfect representations of originality with loads of eye appeal. VF-30. Again, I'm honored to lay my eye balls on these! Thanks for sharing. Would have loved to talk to gramps.

Oh my! What a beautiful coin!

I see this as at least VF-30, and choice for that grade. Retail book value here for VF-30 is around $5,500, but this coin has strong eye appeal for the grade. IMHO, this is closer to the $6,000 range, which is roughly the VF-35 retail value.

The only concern I would have with this coin is the black spot on the obverse next to the 12th star. This coin may be a candidate for professional conservation by the grading company. They do this as an extra charge, and it could be worthwhile on this coin. If conservation is to be attempted, it absolutely should be done professionally on this coin. It might be worthwhile seeing what others think about conservation. There may be differing opinions on this.

Again, very beautiful coin!

You inherited a very special collection. I hope you keep them safe and pass them down for generations to come to enjoy. My grand parents left me with some pocket change, which I treasure because it has their fingerprints on it. I couldn't image something this epic!

Reaching out to PCGS/NGC regarding professional encapsulation for protection and grading is well justified for these.

If you need to sell them, this collection qualifies for the attention and services of the top auction houses like Stack' Bowers, Heritage, Legend Numismatics etc. The odds that your local coin shop or the average coin show table is a better advocate for you to maximize money to you is not great on something unusually awesome as this.
