I've seen finishing errors before but nothing like this. The entire reverse is affected. Any ideas?

@err, your picks are wicked small and when I blow them up, I'm just not seeing anything. Any chance of a larger pic, especially of the area that seems off to you. Also, can you please describe what you mean by a "finishing error"? Do you mean extra shiny? Extra dull? Or something else?

Yes, images as posted are not helpful. New, full, large and sharp pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

See if this picture is better. The finish is very dull. The rim has a shine but nothing else on this side. It looks like a dull gray and feels different, almost dry, not slick like normal coins

Possibly the reverse devices on the outer ring were almost polished off the the die. These incuse devices on the coin, are actually raised devices on the die. So then the die is polished down, the devices get weaker on the coins struck with that die.

Some sort of environmental tarnishing/staining/chemical reaction. Post mint damage. Still worth a quarter.
