I posted this on the error forum a while ago so if you know the grade obviously don't say it. This is a rare variety coin( trumpet tail S). It was graded by NGC but variety not noted. I ended up cracking the case and sending it to PCGS. They gave it a different grade than NGC. If you'd like to guess the NGC grade then the final PCGS grade than you can. Or just the final PCGS grade. These are the pictures I have until I get the coin back in the mail Tuesday. What do you think?

Looks like an MS-65 coin but the tone might be environmental damage. Guess it's an MS details coin if they body bagged it.

Thanks folks. I'm thinking I didn't capture the toning or luster on this coin as well as I could have. Definitely not like the TV pictures will show. I'll be out of communication until Tuesday and will have the coin in hand I'll post one more set of pictures, then the Cert.
And frog I'm pretty sure you said the same thing when I posted it on the error forum.
I check the stems above the MM for strike pressure. A 65 is weak in this area. (My mail man put my $10k PCGS order in my mailbox without a signature?!?)

not a fan of the spotted toning, but the dings are few, so this probably went from 65 to 66

whats the marker for a trumpet tail S?
i'll say NGC called it MS64 and PCGS bumped it to a 65 which is not normal but what the heck i'll throw my hat into the ring

Will I remember this coin from the error forum. For grading, IMO it is max 63. Sorry you know I am a fun of quarters and halves. I saw my 66 and compare is at a few corners streets away. I think yours coin need an restoration.

It's a nice strike with minimal marks, but not the most attractive toning. Fortunately, toning doesn't figure into the grade, so I'll say PCGS gave it a 66.
