Hello Shovel
And welcome to the forum, in the event you have not yet
been officially welcomed :)
On the 1998, 1999 and 2000 lincoln cents there where some that
had the incorrect reverse die used on them.
They are called
Wide AM's. The reason so is because there is a space
between the A and M in the word AMERICA on the coins reverse. Normally the two letters touch each other at the bottom. Look at the pics. that are posted and also look at some cents that you may have
and compare them so you can get an idea on the differences. Another thing to look at to help verify it is indeed a
Wide AM, is to look at
those little initials FG down to the lower right of the memorial building (looking at the coins reverse) If they are real close to the building then it is a
Wide AM - along with the space as I stated above. Look at a few cents from before 1993, like any 80's or 70's etc. and you can then learn to see the different spaces etc. There was also another
Wide AM recently found on the 1996 so check all 1993
through 2000 for this. At the moment anyway, the 1999
Wide AM is the most valuable find. Followed by the 98 then the 2000. After all that
you can then look for and learn about the
Close AM variety of the 1992
Lincoln Cent.
