Quote: That's a really nice set. Thank you Quote: .Im missing the 16-D to complete mine though.Yours looks great, where did you find it?At a coin store or on-line? I got mine locally from a coin shop I've been doing business with for years. I do not recommend buying a raw 16-d online or from anyplace you don't have a relationship with. Even a slabbed one I would be careful buying online.

I'm jealous of your coins Quote: Very nice set you have put together.. they look MUCH better then mine... I wasn't joking when I posted that I got these as a substitute for StarBucks coffee, most of these were under $10, and the few recent ones in high AU/MS were from the "junk" pile of dimes. If I can get them like this, you can also.

You got me thinking now!II'm going to stop eating porterhouse steaks and king crab legs and get that 1916-D Mercury dime. Starbucks regular coffee was always bitter so I never went there.

I'm not a steak fan, but it would be hard to give up king crab legs and that potato. Maybe instead of Opus 1 get a Josh Cabernet.

Nice set of Mercury dimes! And a good lesson in saving... I've only been to Starbucks a few times in my life (usually while on vacation), but I once added up how much I spend on beer in a year and it was pretty eye-opening. Not enough to really change my behavior, but still...

Quote:it was pretty eye-opening. Not enough to really change my behavior, but still... When I quit drinking beer - I found that I had a ton of extra cash to spend on other stuff. I saved all the money I didn't spend on beer and put it in a special savings account I didn't touch for years. Finally in 2020, I bought the last truck I'll ever buy. I put down $50,000 cash (bank note) and financed the other $20,000. I still use my Beer money to pay the truck down. After 2 years of paying (on a 6 year loan), I only have just a tad over $10,000 left. I'll be paid off in a year.

Sadly I didn't quit beer or wine or single malts. We all need a few bad habits

Dearborn, that's pretty impressive! Sure helped ease the pain of the price of a new truck... I bought my Dodge Ram SLT new in 2005 for $25,000, and it's now approaching 200,000 miles. Still runs and looks great, so I'm hoping it'll last me for many more years, especially since I don't put that many miles on it since I retired. When I look at the stickers on the new trucks, it makes me a bit dizzy .

This makes me want to start a Mercury dime set although I'm not sure I'll give up any bad habits. :-)

Should of kick more bad habits, and I would be able to complete my other sets sooner.

Thanks - t sure was hard to not spend (and not drink beer[especially that]) but it's paying off in the long run. I now have 2 trucks. 1. 2002 Chevy Silverado LT model K2500 HD 4x4 (8.1L engine and Allison transmission it has 130K miles on it that I use for work. and 2. My new truck I just mentioned above a 2020 Silverado K2500HD 4x4 with the 6.6 engine in it this one only had 10K miles on it. I plan to keep the miles down and drive it only the store and work on Friday to keep it moving and the seals tight. When I retire I'll sell off the 2002. My mechanic loves working on my 2002 - the engine still looks clean, almost like new.

Quote: I tend to think that 200K on a truck in is not that bad - just keep up on all the little repairs as they pop up and maintenance won't snowball out of control I agree. I've always been a stickler for doing proper maintenance and repairs (I still do a lot of work on it myself, particularly easy things like the brakes). The guy at the local garden center has an '02 Dodge with well over 300,000 miles on it, and he's always trying to talk me into selling him mine .
