I don't see the Kennedy half being replaced or stopped as long as there is a Kennedy in congress. Right now there is Edward and I also think one of the nephews is in congress as well. As long as they weild the power the Kennedy is gonna be around. The Kennedy clan still has a lot of influence on capital hill as well as the whole North East part of the country. My suggestion is get the collection up to date and add to it eash year as the new coins come out.

Jusy my opinion of course

I honestly voted that it is ridiculous. The Mint is only making these NIFC coins because they know they can make a profit off of the collectors who just must have them.
This is kinda how I feel about the Statehood (and soon National Park) quarters and the Presidential dollars, too.
I miss the good old days (e.g. 1998) when there was only one type of coin for each denomination a year, and they just made coins that were actually needed.
I apologize if I sound like a total jerk about this...

Supply and demand. As long as people keep buying them from the mint at such a premium...the mint will keep making them. The people vote with their dollars (or half-dollars), and congress knows that.

I think the National Parks quarter is a neat idea...but I wish they would wait a decade or so. I'd like to see them do something with the dime first.

It's insanity. These pieces don't have much value, and it's not like you can just go and buy a pair of JFK's, you gotta buy rolls. More junk, less packaging.

We need to bring in a small dollar coin, reissue quarter eagles, and eliminate one dollar bills. HALF of BEP's production is ones!! Ridiculous. Canada did this with one and two dollar coins and things are ok there, they save a ton by not printing ones. Or twos.

The sac/presidential/native american dollar format is dead. Just like the SBA.

And as I said elsewhere, in 47 years of life I've seldom seen halves used outside of a casino.

I think they will make so much stuff that people will start to lose interest and quit trying to keep up with all the different series. The same thing happened in the '30's and '40's with commemoratives.

I think there are way too many NIFC coins. I can see a couple commems a year. But now there are more NIFC's than business strikes ... especially if you consider the mint set satin finish coins to be NIFC's.

And for the record, I say they are.

I voted that it didn't matter to me. Who cares if the mint makes a few million of these coins for collectors? The also make billions of cents for no apparent reason either.

I would like 2011 to be the last year, so I won't have to add another page to the Dansco!

Actually they need to go to 2012 as that's where my Dansco ends. But only the P&D as the Proofs are not included on the last page.

Funny you mention that...

When I bought my album, the fourth page was dated to 1991 (the last two holes were not dated). I had originally put my two 1982 Washington Half Dollars in those holes. When I got the 7070, I moved Washington Half Dollars to it and put an extra 1964 and 1964-D in those holes.

When I decided to add pages for the Kennedy half dollars, I got blank (non-dated) pages. Rather than move the extra 1964 coins out, I started the first new page with all of the 1992 coins.

That said, I have no room for 2012 Kennedy half dollars.
