This is my first post other than to say hello, so let me go on ahead and apologize. I'm not the sharpest tool in the tool drawer. I can honestly say I read the rules, with the intentions to retain them. I need y'all's knowledge, so please let me know when I need steering.
With that being said, I'll now attempt to post some pictures of this joker. Let me know what y'all think once ya gather y'all's thoughts. Thanks Shane

Looks like a vise job to me which would make it a damaged coin, the secondary image in the obverse appears to be mirrored which can't happen with a double struck coin.

Thanks fellers. I kinda thought that might be the case. I'm going through my dad's collection. Just seeing what he has. Taking inventory and what not. He was a real jerk till I learned how to throw a punch myself. So I grab a handful of his coins ever once in a while, and piss him off by telling him there worthless. Its petty on my behalf, I'm well aware. But entertained none the less. Just come across another.

We ask you present one coin per thread. If you wish to show us this second coin, create another thread for it, plus it belongs in the Classic section. I' ll ask a mod if they would be so kind as to move it for you.

Clues that this coin was altered.
1. Note the size of the coin. The outside edge was altered by the squeeze of the devices. (out of round)
2. Note the devices seen on the coin are mirrored, not normal. So this was transferred from another coin, not by a mint die. I have examples of a double struck coins to prove this is the case. (this one was struck twice, but not a flip over strike, but the coin was rotated between the strikes:

Note how the first strike devices are flattened bu the second strike. So they are not mirrored, not over the tops of the highest areas of the design.

That is how you call tell the differences. Pay close attention to how the coin was struck or was altered.

CoopHome: [b] How to tell if a double strike appeared on a Wheat cent?
both sets of devices will be normal not mirrored
