Hello, I find this proof 1964 with apparently an DDO in the digits. Do is this a new DDO? Almost same I find in one 1969-D, slight different. What you think? Sorry for the color of the photo but was my best for this proof in order to can post.

I will try, the proof coins are not easy to photo and also not to take out from slab. Me I keep the coins on my own slab design. And I will put the both with same on first 9 and the 6 (mean 1964 PR and 1969-D)

I agree it looks like a DDO with the notching and lite separation on the 9 & 6.

I know little about half dollars but wondered if this could be a doubled master die issue? I noticed there were two listed at one time and several doubled working hubs but I guess de-listed now? Was not sure if there could have been a doubled master that could have carried over from 64 to 69? I took a screen shot of what I'm talking about. The fact that these were recognized at one time but now de-listed, makes me think this is a work in progress and are still figuring things out. Your two coins could be a key to a puzzle though. Just a thought.

A doubled master die could affect as much as 50% of the coins struck that year regardless of mint. A doubled working hub can create many dies, and just a portion of the coins will have this. The problem is that these are not doubled dies from a working doubled hub. But sometimes doubled dies are created from on a doubled working hub, when it is has hub doubling from two different dies. http://doubleddie.com/1141429.htmlQuote: 1966 50¢ SMS WDDO-013 "Best Of" Variety Description: A Class V CW spread from a pivot at about 5:00 shows on the LIB of LIBERTY, the front curl of hair, and the upper hair details. This variety also shows the doubling from WWHO-002. (underline added by coop)
So things happen during die creation.
