I agree Just a DDD, metal flow can be seen travelling towards the rim.

Not DDD, DDD happens on the single squeeze dies. This is extreme die wear. Not the die flow lines on the fields of the coin. That is showing that soon it is due to have another die polishing. I mentioned another, as this one looks like it is passed the third polishing level. (How can I tell that?) Note the devices? They are starting to get get distorted. This is not seen until the third polishing. If the rescue this die one more time, the coins will show even more extreme die wear as the next running of this die. So this may happen, it there is not die cracks/chips or other issues with the die. They will be really distorted as the die continues to strike more coins after the 4th polishing: I don't see any Machine Doubling on this coin. CoopHome: What dies die flow and die wear look like? extreme die wear 3rd polishing, flow lines

I was pretty sure there was nothing valuable going on with him, just wanted confirmation before chunking in the spend bucket! So, not to get off subject, but on VV's site, when a date is listed in black, does that mean there is at least one variety for that yr, just not uncommon, or does it mean there are no varieties and/or errors for that yr?

The ones with the line under them are the years with listings. The ones with just the date are no listings found for those years/mints. Most years the dimes are duds. Even on the obverses. Check the DDR listings for the newer coins. The DDR's are not what you usually are looking for. The DDR's are more towards the centers of the devices, and not on the outer devices at all. (really, take a look and save your eyes, looking for something that doesn't exist on the areas you are looking) Know what your are looking for on doubled dies. Always check the information first. (other wise that new roll you got, will have to be rechecked again)

I know that DDD is not really the right verbiage, so maybe a worn die causing it to look like a doubled hub. WDCITLLADH...hahaha.I still think DDD is better. John1

You can easily see the radial flow lines on both sides formed by very old and worn dies.
