Hello, can you shed some light on the details of this 1944 Penny?
Are these Rolling lines, woody or both.

Is this considered an error?

Thanks.

Looks like a woody that has chemical damage. Maybe buried sometime in acidic soil?

Coin wear will not remove the woody affect. The wood look is in the planchet and will remain as long as the coin endures wear. (Not so on rolling lines, as they are on the surface of the coin and will wear off the highest devices) No rubbing if the you going to bathe the coin. Pat dry. But the green areas are patina. They may not come off.
