Any of the professionals know why FDR looks like he is wearing three hoop earrings? Took me a day to figure out what I was seeing.

Thanks for looking.

Contact marks, possibly from another coin.

Nope.... Not contact marks, or PMD.

I believe I'm seeing post-strike contact marks.

It could maybe be a clash mark from the oak leaves on the reverse, but I can't tell for sure, maybe a closer picture of the area would confirm it for me.

BINGO! Oak leaf & acorn clash. There is other evidence of the clash on both obverse and reverse. Attached is the OB/Rev of this coin side by side.

Excellent job Dave!

Thanks for the overlays Coop..... Although my coin doesn't line up exactly as indicated in the overlay. The coin appears to have shifted west revealing more of the acorn than the leaf in the clash. This shift can also be seen in the western rim of the obverse.

@NY COOP put you the overlay. You do not have. Second: Do you want to tell me that the clash was west? In 2000 the coins come west to east in presses. Third: Explain me the clash only in the lower part of the bigger height relief of the observe. I am curios of an plausible explanation and include in my next book.

Well during a clash the dies can rotate. So this rotation may have taken place before your coin was struck. If this happens a second time and the dies have moved again, then you will see two sets of clash lines:

This proves that the dies do rotate on the dies between clashes. If the clash happens twice, it can rotate and alter the sub devices as on this dime. But this is not common. The Clashes are most often seen on the fields. But in the case of a sever clash, other devices can be seen on the fields including dates an outer devices:
