A couple weeks ago I posted this coin from the sellers pictures and you all thought it was somewhere between 55 and 58. I actually thought it was better, and so bid on it, bought it, got it, photographed it myself under harsh light and then sent it back for a full refund yesterday. You all were wrong, but I was even more wrong. I really thought it make make low MS.

I don't know if it was intentionally shot to hide the glaring harsh scrubbing, or if it was unintentional, but the sellers pictures really hid some horrible scratching and scraping, maybe even wire brushing.

Oh well, full refund, nothing ventured nothing gained. I didn't image the reverse before repacking it for shipping it back.

First picture was sellers that I posted here a few weeks ago, and the rest I took coin in hand under harsh light.

Those look like friction lines that happen from being drug across a surface such as a counter. They are not roundish as when someone scrubs the surface to remove debris. The overexposed photo makes them look worse then they likely are under normal light. Imo the coin is a low end AU and not cleaned as I think that is what you were going at with the post.

If it was simply slid across a countertop, the fields wouldn't show scratching as well. Just the high points and rims would be affected.

I am glad you got your money back.

That's nasty. Got to be done on purpose I'm sure. You do much better on ebay having honest photography I find. Glad you got your refund.

That's good you got your money back.

Like I said, no way it's Mint State.

Why didn't you listen to us?

Had nothing to do with listening or not listening to you, it was a buy at high AU, just not damaged, and nobody saw that or mentioned it, not even you. But thanks for the opinion back then anyway.

It really gets hard buying coins from photos. You never know what you have until it's in your hands. Glad you got a refund.

How a seller thinks something like this will help them in the long run is beyond me.

I went back and looked at the ebay listing. The seller's core business is jewelry, so hard to say if the photos were intentional. Too bad it was not MS as you would of had a nice buy.

You win some, you lose some when buying from suboptimal photos. At least you're pretty protected between the seller's return policy and ebay's buyer protection.

Wow. Some of the scratches maybe happened after the sellers photo. Look at the cheek, there are two quite deep and parallel scratches, on the sellers photo there is only one.
