While I'm stuck home with Covid I thought I'd go through some coins. Thoughts on this?

I am trying to learn a bit about the Connecticut Coppers, but there are so many varieties (over 350), that they are far and away, the toughest of the Colonials to learn to identify varieties in. I found this page: https://www.money.org/collector/use...-copper-1787An interesting formula presented to begin to attribute them on that page. Then there is this off center one at a Stack's/Bowers auction, but doesn't look at all like yours: https://auctions.stacksbowers.com/l...left-fine-15The letters are quite different and the spacing is not even close. being there are so many Miller 33 possibilities (50 or so). I do have a copy of the new Connecticut Copper bible by Randall Clark, but it's not at hand to look up right now. https://www.numislit.com/pages/book...rs-1785-1788This would make a fun coin to look up the ID of with my new Clark book. I'll try to grab it and see if I can get close within a day or so. My own Connecticut coppers are way more worn than this one. Notre Dame website on Colonials has a bunch of photos that may help: https://coins.nd.edu/ColCoin/ColCoi...r.intro.htmlThe Miller book is still in Copyright at the NNP so it's not up for online access yet. There are quite a few good NNP Auction resources as well you can use, Try the C4 Auctions, I just gave them my collection of catalogs to scan and all the PRLs to go with them, the full set should be posted and available now. https://nnp.wustl.edu/library/aucti...etail/512193

They're actually pretty easy to ID with decent detail like this one. I'll let you guys practice on it!

Little more time now, pretty nice coin. The detail is decent, fair share of hits that do detract, as well as the centering. Still a nice coin, I would be very happy with it! If westcoin doesn't come up with the ID I'll help out.

I'm researching but honestly am getting exhausted. Covid nap time.

I'll tease a little, it's actually a better variety. Not one of the common ones.

OK, if there are no other takers, it is a 37.12-LL. This is a R5+ variety, this is the rarity point where Connecticut coppers start to get a little more interesting.

Yep, I collect these by die variety. By serious Connecticut collector standards my collection is small, 60 or so varieties, but it is a fun series to work on.

Most of the marks pre-strike; just not enough pressure to flatten them during minting.

I had Covid pretty bad but I'm back now.
Should I send out to get graded?

Glad you are feeling better. No idea about getting it graded, I cracked out the few that I got that were already graded. Most collectors of these seem to prefer them raw.

There are literally over 350 varieties of Connect. Coppers I have seen a few off center examples. This one is very nice! Agree, looks to be a 37.12-LL which helps add to value.

Just saw in the C4 group today, that Randall Clark's book "THE IDENTIFICATION AND CLASSIFICATION OF CONNECTICUT COPPERS (1785-1788)" just won the NLG Book of the Year! I got my copy on an early purchase just before they were shipping, it's an amazing book, though also huge at over 700 pages, I haven't gone through all of it completely in the few months I've had it.

The book is certainly deserving of the award, it is the most often consulted book in my numismatic library.
