Usually the first gets to name it... does that mean Sweden was the first place to use this technique? And yes, that's a really cool coin!! Another 1/4 thaler of the Poland-Lithuania Commonwealth for 1624, this time struck in Bydgoszcz.   |

Another Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth coin 1623 3 Polker Sigismund III Vasa - MInted at Bydgoszcz, Poland Silver (.700)   The Ox moves slowly, but the Earth is patient.

I suspect we will be looking at Sigismund III's face quite a bit. Here he is on a 3 Groschen:   "If you climb a good tree, you get a push."

That grosz is not seen as often as the other types, and gives us four different denominations for 1623  I'll make it 8 in a row for Sigismund, starting 1622 with another ort stuck in Bydgoszcz:   |

I got confused by the late-starting days and by 1c5d's unexpected 1621 jetons, and I almost hadn't realized it was 1622 day...   Bohemia, Ferdinand II 1/4 kipper kreuzer, 1622 KM# 280, Numista 104706The photo on Numista is mine (a lightened version of the pic in the post), but due to a misunderstanding of the Numista photo byline system at the time it's not labeled as mine. I also wrote the entry, which explains the obvious missing links. Since then I recall having made better pics, but if so I apparently never uploaded them to CCF? I'll try to check in my phone pic archive. |
