What you are seeing on the date, is normal. Look up RPM listings and you can see this on all of them. Not sure if there is an RPM there or not, could not find a match, as far as mm location was concerned. Maybe a nice clear closeup of the date and mm, all together and a clear closeup of the mm itself.

Did you do what I asked? Look at RPM listings, you will see the same thing on all the dates, it's not hub doubling. Look up RPM's on any of the sites and you will see the same thing on the 4's and they are not doubled dies, it's normal.

Here is a link to a random 1944-S RPM. If it were a doubled die, it would say it was, even on the RPM listing. Look at the fours, it's the same as yours.

Good catch, Aliabeans! I knew it was a typical look for this date but forgot about it being a doubled master die. That's good that you recalled this, recall is very important with all of the crazy possibilities of varieties and errors. Nice job.

Correct. It is part of the master hub design for that year. As the dies age, they will loose the freshness of this doubling. Great use of a screen shot. Good Job!
