Hi. I ask for your evaluation on this One Cent. I would not be wrong, I seem to see the letter D faded, if it were a mistake, what is it called in numismatic terms?. Thanks.

@jos, that black spot does look a bit like there is an outline of a letter D in there, but I'm not sure that it isn't just staining. This cent might be a good candidate for verdicare.

A sharp photo of the mint mark area taken at an angle might help. Is that 'blob area' raised above the surface, flush, or sunken?

I'm not so sure that's a D mint mark . Could be just a small corrosion spot or stain .

If it is a mintmark, it will be raised. If it is level with fields, then it is a stain, regardless of what it may look like.

Okay, I can tell you that there is a slight emboss with small dots, it is not stain, and that the position of the letter is in the right mint mark position.
