Hi Coin Community,

I was looking through some of my silver coins and noticed the S mint mark on this dime differed from the S mint mark on others from around the same year.

Is this a re-punched mint mark?

Pic 3 is just comparing the S mint mark in question, left, against coin on the right which is a 55 S. Thanks for your time and feedback.

@601digs: The RPM mean rotate MM. This mean that you will see the MM strike and has the main and behind a second one BUT with different orientation. Majority are versus East, never up. west orientation it is more rare. The RPM could be very well see or can have very small mark of. Hope you bring a nice one here.

I do not collect them, except the photos, but I love them.

PS: OH, the RPM's are part of the Mint Striking History and procedures.

If you are going to be comparing MM of different coins, be sure to use the same year, as the mint changes MM tools at times and they may not match.

That's a very close mm to the torch, nice. Thanks for the clear pics. As already stated, no RPM though.
