there is a ridge on the surface of this coin that does not belong there. this ridge runs under the steps. that runs up to Lincoln I have never seen this before . your thoughts greatly appreciated.

Better photos is need. You state is 1992 so the blue come from zinc oxide.

@roc, these are amazing close-ups, but as stated above, having an overall fit of the obv and rev helps us to put these in perspective. I wonder if you aren't seeing tears in the copper plating that have exposed the underlying zinc core.

The images are great, but a little tooooo close.

It looks like Split Plate Doubling, but I'm not sure just where it is on the coin. This is a common problem with zinc core Lincoln cents. The layer of copper was broken by the pressure of the strike and maybe a sharp edge on the die, and the zinc is exposed now.

The area that looks like an Ebola virus image is much more interesting. I can't tell for sure if it's raised or incuse, but It looks like a strike through (thread maybe?) but that shouldn't have disrupted the copper plating. Maybe something in the copper plating that released during the strike? Same for the two spots in that area. It all looks like exposed zinc.
