1909 VDB Penny - Should I Send This In To Be Graded?

Jesseco New Member United States 2 Posts	Posted 08/20/2022 12:39 pm Found this penny in a coin lot I purchased a couple days ago. Wondering if it's at a quality worth getting graded. Hard to capture good quality pictures, and the flash sort of washes out the color, but it is reddish brown. Doesn't shine or reflect light like a normal red penny would, but still has that glow to it which makes it a bit odd to me. Report this Post to the Staff

panzaldi Bedrock of the Community United States 18644 Posts	Posted 08/20/2022 1:14 pm what are you using to take these photos? if this is a true representations of the coin maybe Unc details. if the photos are not accurate as to what the surfaces look like then give another shot. in any case an 09VDB would need to be at least 65RD to consider grading. Penny has a very granular surface, which is why it may look porous, but it seems pretty smooth to me. Thank you for feedback :) Report this Post to the Staff

panzaldi Bedrock of the Community United States 18644 Posts	Posted 08/21/2022 11:07 am i agree AU. try this to get better with your phone 1. turn off flash 2. place coin on flat surface with indirect natural light. maybe a window sill in a cloudy day 3. move phone about 3in from coin 4. zoom in using you fingers until the coin comes into focus 5. hold phone steady. if you cant then place something on either side of the coin at that distance and lay phone on top. this will hold it steady and allow you to zoom and take the photo without any blur Report this Post to the Staff
