Hey folks,

What do you think this one would grade?

Thanks!

She looks to have been over dipped in an attempt to remove some staining...?
If you haven't read it already...PCGS has a good read on this coin.

Are you talking about the David Bowers narrative from his book?

XF40 details (cleaned).

i think however there is a chance she could grade straight just a little too much glare in the photos to assess better,

I'd say XF details—leaning towards cleaned, although it might be the lighting.

I'm glad almost everyone else was thinking the same as me!

I'm at XF40 too.

This coin does not look as bad in hand at all, but yes, the angle and photos seem to make it look terrible.

This coin looks very similar and it straight graded.

I just go to PCGS Price Guide and click on the coin...after it loads...scroll all the way down for a narrative...
It might be the same one...

I've seen quite a few like this in PCGS and NGC holders at AU-50 so unclear whether it would get a details grade or not. Some of the lower AU coins had a really rough time in circulation.

I'll say AU-50.
