I think I may have finally found a dd on a coin. Please someone tell me if I am correct. Its a 1998 D Kennedy half dollar, you can see the doubling in the letters of America on reverse side. Thank you.

Machine doubling. Caused by the machine after the strike. Not a doubled die.

to the CCF!

Machine Doubling cuts into the letters reducing the size, where as a Doubled Die would add thickness to the letters. Also, MD shows as flat, shelf-like areas. A true Doubled Die would have more separation and fuller rounder features.

Note the devices were altered, not enlarged from the Machine Doubling on the outside/insides of the affected devices.
