There are very few of the REV design I don't like The front designs are a great mix from 5th grade level drawings/design concepts to some downright impressive art! I hope the mint keeps the traditional dignity/decorum of US coin designs in mind when choosing the OBV. There are some nice ones in that lot.

Does the Public get to vote on the most preferred design?
Select most preferred design, and produce as many as required.
Of all of those designs less preferred, make pattern dies and strike 50 off each, then destroy the dies. Sell the patterns to be Public at grossly inflated prices

The Bristlecone Pine Obverse would look great, with many of the reverses, proposed. For me, the r 04b m reverse, with a o 02 m obverse would make an awesome proof coin, JMHO.

The guy who looks like a wood carving trying to hold up a ceiling that is crashing down seems about right for our time

I'm pretty sure it's the bristlecone pine that they went with. Can't recall if Yellen signed the approval but iirc the recommendation was for the tree. And assuming it is, then count me in for one.

I like the tree for the obverse! I am sorry not sorry, but I am tired of seeing people, allegorical or otherwise! We got the horse this year, so I am convinced we can continue to show Liberty in non-human form. As for the reverse... it is an eagle. Unlike most of you, I have liked all the eagles we have had before. Eagle reverse designs are like pizzas... when they are good, they are good, but when they are bad, they are still pretty good.

You can never go wrong with an eagle. I am thinking the will probably go with a woman on the obverse. It would be nice to see the liberty bell on a medal.

...The Commission of Fine Arts recommended the same proposed obverse and reverse designs favored two days before by the Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee for the Proof 2023 American Liberty, High Relief gold $100 coin and silver medal. The coins will exhibit a reeded edge while the medal will be struck with plain edge. The Mint mark of the producing facility will appear on the medal's reverse. The silver medal will include the inscriptions LIBERTY, WE SHALL PERSEVERE and the date 2023. The recommended designs are thematic of the program focus of "Liberty Through Perseverance." The proposed obverse design, according to the U.S. Mint narrative, features a bristlecone pine, "a species native to California, Nevada, and Utah, thought to be the oldest living organisms on Earth, living up to 5,000 years. Bristlecone pines grow in places where other plants cannot." The proposed reverse design "depicts the moments before a bald eagle's first attempt at flight. A young bald eagle stands on a rocky outcropping, looking over its shoulder just before finding the courage to fly." https://www.cfa.gov/records-researc...-17-feb-22-3 @TNG @carlp007 @sel_69l Sorry, but they are hiring for the general public representative. https://www.coinworld.com/news/us-c...cac-openings@JBuck No People! It says they commented that the obverse's depiction of a bristlecone pine tree would powerfully symbolize the 2023 theme of liberty through perseverance, and they emphasized their support for the more inclusive symbolism of natural elements rather than the narrower symbolism of a personified representation of liberty.

See, I knew I was right! The tree hits! I look forward to adding that one next year... fingers crossed!

I definitely plan to get one, I've been saving up for it. Heck, since there won't be any commemoratives in 2023 I will be able to justify this. (I usually get each 3-coin set for each of my kids; instead of four quarter-oz gold's I'll go with just this and cut it in half for the kids :D )
