1934 Lincoln Wheat Penny With D Mint Mark On Reverse

Chalupacabra New Member United States 1 Posts	Posted 08/26/2022 7:22 pm Going through my coins and noticed a d mint mark stamp on a 1934 Wheat penny but it's on back side on the bottom edge of the penny. It's backwards and faint but I believe that it's a "d" marking. Anyone with any insight to help me would be awesome Thanks Report this Post to the Staff

Earle42 Bedrock of the Community United States 10038 Posts	Posted 08/26/2022 11:46 pm There is no possible way in the minting process that extra letters, mint marks, words, figures etc. can end up on a coin before leaving the mint. The die making process eliminates that possibility altogether. The one exception to an extra letter is what is known as a "dropped letter." Yours is not this.
