1983 D Five Cents D Is Not Clear And Seems Squashed Closed

This seems to have issues around the date and the mint mark.
Mint mark D is rather clumpy and not clear....also the 83 are not clearly formed... is this mearly a mis on the die stamp.

@nor, looks like this nickel was struck from tired dies and the post that forms the center of the letter D had broken off. When the coin was struck, the mintmark was already filled in. This is a legit mint error, but super-common and doesn't bring a numismatic premium. Of course, the cost of ownership is low, so save it if you want!

The D has a broken post and the rest is just circulation damage.

Sometimes the post breaks off of the die and leaves an even larger void:

Sometimes it rises above the devices showing how deep the void was after the post broke off of the die.
