1983 D Five Cents D Is Not Clear And Seems Squashed Closed

Spence Moderator United States 34410 Posts	Posted 08/28/2022 08:16 am @nor, looks like this nickel was struck from tired dies and the post that forms the center of the letter D had broken off. When the coin was struck, the mintmark was already filled in. This is a legit mint error, but super-common and doesn't bring a numismatic premium. Of course, the cost of ownership is low, so save it if you want!
