I have been left numerous old coins and I am trying to get information on them. I live in a very small town and there is no one that seems to know anything about coins or who to even take them to to find out what they are worth, ect.

As I continue to go through all the coins I will try and keep updating and letting everyone know what all I have found.

Here are a few:

Silver peace dollars(multiples of all) - years 1921, 1922, 1922D, 1923, 1924

Indian cents- 1898, 1903, 1904, 1905, 1906, 1907

Buffalo nickels and V nickles- early 1900's to 30's that are in a coin wallet with each coin in a case and there is also a bag full of them that I have not gone through but when I looked as I have been trying to seperate them they look all to be Buffalo nickels

Dimes- 1917-1964 several have S, D marks - mercury

half dollars- 7- 1964 1-1968 1-1969

Pennies- way too many to list- multiples of every year from late 1890's to 60's and then some
several were already put in seperate bags or container

This one could be very interesting- I have a penny inside a bag that very well could be the bag is was packaged in because all the info of the "cent" is printed on the clear bag
This is what is printed on the bag

USB-2 PRICE ON INVOICE
Lincoln Cent
1939 S

LITTLETON COIN COMPANY
LITTLETON, N.H 03561

and inside this sealed never opened bag is the Lincoln one cent date matches the S is there, ect.

Also I have rolled coins from the mint that haven't been opened and they are the $1 gold coin with the presidents name and pic - they are they $25 rolls- John Adams, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and James Madison

1848 Large Cent piece

1668 coin from Japan- shopuns? is what the writing on the package says

Another coin from Japan
the coin holder says minted from 1626-1868 shopuns empervcv? 4 men

There is also military currency and currency from other countries

Possible a 1908 saint gaudens twenty dollar gold coin- here is the thing, I had a gentlemen tell me that it was the real deal- but when I looked it up on line the info that I am getting is that the coin should be around the size of a silver dollar and this coin is NOT it is tiny - smaller than a dime. Other than the size it looks identical to the pics that I have found.

That is all I have gone through so far!! Have lots to go through!!

Any and all information would be greatly appreicated because I have no clue what to do with these coins.

Thanks!!

! Whew... what a list! Let me go though it!
Well, first of all, pics would help a lot when it comes time to give it a price, so if you can, pics please!

Peace dollars... well, are just Peace dollars. I bet wiki can explain these better than me
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peace_Dollar

** another note, you might want to pick up a " Red Book" to get more info like mintages. Here's an example so you don't end up getting the Women's Magazine
http://www.amazon.com/Official-Red-...13747&sr=8-1

More experienced members will tell you what to look for, but here's what I can help with...

For the rolled Presidential dollars, they're for regular circulation. Since you have the 2007 series, why not get some 2008 ones? Also, are these the ones with the mint wrapper or the ones that say HE Strings and Son or something like that?

The 1668 Japanese coin is what they used to use in Japan. Is it a copper coin with a square hole? If so, then this is one of the lower valued coins, and if you have 1000 (I think...) of these, you can get a "shu" which is a square coin like this one:
Wanting-To-Learn-About-The-Coins-That-Have-Been-Left-To-Me!

The 4 mon Japanese coin is basically the same...

And ooooo!! Currencies! I want to see pics!!

And the "mini 24kt St Gaudens" or whatever they market these as are just a small piece of metal, maybe not even 1/100 a gram of gold. If you bought this for anything more than $5, go back and return it with a threat of a lawsuit for lying!

And... that's basically all I know. It's late, so stick around tomorrow for more answers from more experienced members.

and if I forgot.... to the forums!

Welcome!
About your 1921 dollars: if they are the Peace type they are scarce coins worth maybe $100+ each. I suspect they are more likely to be the Morgan type which is very common and usually worth only a bit more than the silver content.

Most of what you list sounds like common stuff, although quantity can add up to significant value. Even a common-date coin can bring big money if the grade is very high.

I'd like to see a photo of your large cent.

Check your V nickels for the key dates 1885 and 1912-S.

Check your Buffalo nickels for valuable dates like the 1913-D and 1913-S (type 2), 1914-D, 1921-S, and the 1918/7-D overdate.

Check the Indian cents for the 1908-S and 1909-S, and all the Lincolns for the special dates in that series. Your 1939-S Lincoln Cent is a common date and just happens to be packaged in that dealer's distinctive pouch.

As WD1080 suggests, buy yourself a Red Book and dive right in. Have fun!

There are two Silver Dollars dated 1921. I hope your 1921 is a Peace dollar as it would be a High Relief design and worth most likely a lot more than a common date Morgan dollar.
Another possibility about The St Gaudens design coin is that you might have a 1/10 oz. Gold Eagle from the US MINT maybe dated 1988? The other possibility might just be that it is a novelty miniature coin and only gold plated. There were all sorts of miniature coins made with poor detail.
Your Large cent sounds interesting.

I think you will do better here posting images and reading posts and asking more questions before taking them to someone who will tell you what you have is the real deal or not for now.
WELCOME AGAIN ameadows! Have fun!

Are you sure of the date on this? The Modern $5 Gold Eagle 1/10 oz coin would be around this size and is a replica of the original. These have dates from 1986-2005. It is 1/10 oz of .999 gold.

I think your tiny saint Gaudens is real $5 American gold eagle bullion piece. Its 1/10 an ounce of gold and about the size of a dime matching your description. It should have the date on it. Are you sure it does not say 1998 instead of 1908?

LOL I just typed this and noticed that SeatedNut said the same thing..lol
